This apple pie combines gooey sweet apples with a perfect golden brown crust. Tastes the best with vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel.

For crust:
- Mix flour, salt, cinnamon and sugar in a large bowl. Add cubed cold butter and use a pastry cutter, fork or food processor to break down the butter into pea-sized chunks. Add cold water and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Pour out dough on a work surface and form into 2 equal disks.
- Cover disks with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
For filling:
- Peel and slice apples. Add all ingredients (except the butter) into a large bowl and mix until incorporated.
- Place a large pan on the stove on medium heat. Add butter to melt. Add in apple filling sauté for 25-30 minutes until the apples still have texture but are relatively soft and have a caramel sauce coating. Add mixture back into the bowl to cool.
To assemble pie:
- Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie plate. Add filling into the pie.
- Roll out the second dough and cut into strips if making a lattice. Make the pattern and transfer onto the pie. Secure the edges with entire pie with egg wash and add a sprinkle of sugar on top.
- Bake pie for 10 minutes at 425 F, then change the heat to 350 F while keeping the oven door closed. Bake the pie for another 45 minutes or until desired colour.
- Let pie cool for about 30 minutes before slicing and enjoying :)
