Braised Beef Cottage Pie
This cottage pie is so simple to make since the beef filling is already prepped and full of flavour!

To prep the meat filling:
- Heat a pan on medium heat. Add in butter and sweat diced onion, carrot, frozen peas and carrot for 6-8 minutes until softened.
- Add in beef filling and add in Worcestershire and broth. Stir to combine. Season to taste with salt & pepper if needed.
- When combined, remove from heat and add into a glass baking dish. Set aside in the fridge while you make your potato filling.
To make potato filling:
- Wash and peel potatoes and slice into quarters.
- Add the quarters into a large pot of cold water and add a generous amount of salt. Turn to high heat and bring to a boil.
- Boil the potatoes until fork tender, about 12-15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Drain and mash potatoes using a masher or ricer in a large bowl. Add shredded warmed milk and butter and stir to combine. Add in shredded cheese until it's melted through.
- Add in salt & pepper to taste and then add in your egg yolk. Stir to combine.
- Add the potato filling on top of the meat filling, and smooth out.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the meat filling is bubbly and there is a slight crust on top. You can broil for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy :)
